It was in 1985 that the Partington Family decided to turn a building which had been the winter quarters of the Blackpool Tower Circus into an indoor Bowling Centre. The circus ring and the stalls for the animals formed the basis of the new centre which was opened in October 1985 and contained five rinks. A coffee shop and bar were facilities open to both the bowlers and the visitors who stayed on the Holiday Complex.
In 1995 work started on the building of additional rinks to extend the indoor Centre to seven rinks. This was completed in 1996.
Approximately two years ago, Partingtons invested heavily in the bowling centre and purchased a fully electronic scoreboard and scoring system. This state of the art visual display enables bowlers to clearly see upto the minute match scores.
With the demise of the Blackpool Borough Indoor Bowling Club, Newton Hall Indoor Bowling Centre is now biggest national bowling centre in Lancashire.
Newton Hall Indoor Bowling Centre has a very rich and impressive team and player pedigree. As a club they have won the Egham Trophy twice, in 2003 and 2007.
Currently, 3 of our younger members have won the coveted ‘British Isles Championships’ which, as individuals, there can be no higher accolade in this sport. Congratulations therefore go to Alan Foulds, Tony King and Mark Dawes.
